How can walking routes for medical staff in hospitals be adapted and setups improved so that time is saved and patients receive the best possible care?
Efficient processes in everyday medical practice
KITE is dedicated to the detailed analysis of processes in hospitals, with a particular focus on the cardiology and cath labs. Our research involves direct observation of specific medical procedures on site, working closely with the healthcare professionals involved to gain an in-depth understanding of the processes.
During our visits, we precisely document spatial conditions, process flows and any relevant details that catch our eye. This information is then prepared in the form of visualizations such as heat maps, floorplans, flow charts and sketches of changes and special features of the premises and target groups. These visual representations enable us to identify user needs and derive valuable insights for the development of new products and process optimizations.
Our contribution
Our approach is holistic: we look at the entire process in the context of the hospital, including the people involved, but can also focus on specific products, groups of people or specific process steps or time periods. Through our comprehensive analysis and the resulting visualizations, we create a fundamental basis for further developments of medical technologies and processes that are directly tailored to the needs of users.
The insights gained not only contribute to the optimization of existing processes, but also help to design future products and rooms in such a way that they meet the actual requirements of everyday clinical practice.
